Other ways to give
Hicks Candles are hand poured in small batches by Steph and are made with 100% soy wax, cotton wicks and are eco-friendly even down to the packing tape. Hicks was the maiden name of Steph's Grandma and sadly during the later years of her life she suffered with dementia, which is why they donate 10% of every sale to Dementia UK.
The hope is not only will the candles allow you a moment of relaxation, but they are also kind to mother Earth and help support those whose lives are touched by dementia. That's a whole lot of love in one candle.
Kirsty Elen Art
Kirsty Elen uses her practice to explore life and nature within her work, through delicate designs and line work. Her artwork usually has a socially or environmentally-conscious message behind it. Kirsty started to use sustainable processes and materials during her time at University, where she became involved with the Earth Society; passionate about helping the planet. Now, sustainable materials are always ensured in Kirsty’s artwork, all of her prints being on 100% recycled paper.
In 2019, Kirsty’s Grancha, Peter, was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia. In 2020, Peter suffered a stroke which sadly led to a rapid decline, and Peter lost his battle. Shortly before Peter died, Kirsty created ‘Always’ as a reminder of her grandfather’s love which was not compromised by Dementia. The design was inspired by This Is Dementia’s design ‘Memories on Record.’
Kirsty is selling ‘Always’ as a print through her store. From each sale, Kirsty will be donating 25% profit to Dementia UK.
